This painting was created on a natural beach in Destin Bay, inspired by a large driftwood tree. It had washed up on the beach and dried into this wild driftwood sculpture, roots fanning out to the sky, the surface worn down by endless waves into exquisite lines and textures. The painting is my interpretation of the process of the wood being transformed--the wood is pictured kind of glowing, just beneath the surface of the water. I used the water from the bay, and even some sand, to repeatedly wash over the piece and create texture and effects. The original has been sold, but prints are coming soon.
